Do you design only Author websites?

Although we specialize in websites for authors, we also do websites for individuals and businesses. Feel free to contact us with your web design needs to find out if we’re a fit for your project and to get a quote for our services.

I already have a theme, will you help me customize it?

Not at this time. Due to the time it takes to familiarize ourselves with a theme written by another developer, it is actually more cost effective for us to build you a custom website. Instead of a one-size-fits-all solution, you’ll receive a site tailored to your specific needs within the WordPress framework.

I have a website using another theme but I want you to make a site banner or heading graphic, can you help?

Yes! We provide some visual design services separate from our web design services. We can make a banner to the specifications you provide, using the image(s) and text you send us, then we’ll send it to you so you can add it to your site. Contact us for more information.

I need a Facebook or other online ad, can you help?

Yes! We provide some visual design services separate from our web design services. We can make a non-animated ad to the specifications you provide, using the image(s) and text content you give us. Contact us for more information.

I want to have a shopping cart or e-commerce store on my site, do you work with those?

At this time, we do not set up shopping carts or ecommerce stores. However, if you have chosen a shopping cart plugin for WordPress, we will upload the plugin for you and activate it so that you can configure the cart/store and add your items to your shop.

If you build my site, will I be able to manage it?

Yes. Our theme system is designed for you to be able to manage your site’s content if you so desire. However, we do remain available to you should you need help with future updates. For clients who want to manage their site, we provide access to a quick start reference and guide to orient you to the template’s custom features and options. Contact us with any questions.

I don’t want to manage my site content or updates, do you help with future updates?

If we designed your site, absolutely! Contact us for more information on our update plans and prices. We have three options based on the most common requests and levels of service. Contact us for more information.

What do you charge for updates?

We offer both à la carte updates and yearly update plans.*

For à la carte updates, there is a minimum fee of $25 and we provide a quote if the work required extends beyond that fee. The minimum fee applies per update request, which may contain more than one task but must be sent in a single email.

Update plans are designed for clients who need or desire on-going help with their site content and WordPress installation. We have three plan options based on the most common requests and levels of service. The plans are yearly, prepaid, and non-refundable.

Do you provide search engine optimization (SEO) services?

Since our primary focus is on custom WordPress website design/development and recommended SEO tactics change so often and rapidly, we do not offer à la carte SEO services. For websites that we design, we provide starter site- and page-relevant SEO metadata that clients can fine-tune as they desire. We stress the need for quality, keyword-rich content and a robust online presence through their website and social media. For more specific assistance with SEO, clients have the option to seek out an SEO expert who’s abreast of the latest trends.

Do you host websites?

We do not offer hosting services but we can provide a list of hosts we’ve worked with on behalf of our other clients. The host must meet the minimum requirements for running WordPress. If you have questions about the type of hosting you should choose, just let us know.

Disclosure: Austin DesignWorks is currently an affiliate with SiteGround, where we host our own site. We are more than pleased with their performance, service, support, and features but clients are free to choose with whom they want to host their site.

Do you offer technical support for my web hosting or email?

If there’s an problem with the website Austin DesignWorks designed for you, we absolutely assist in troubleshooting the issue and resolving the issue. If we determine the issue is with your web hosting or email service, we may refer you to the technical support for that service as they are your best avenue(s) of help in those instances. When possible, we will provide you technical information that will hopefully help secure a quick resolution to the issue.

Will you teach me how to use WordPress?

We do not offer in-person or remote lessons on basic WordPress usage at this time but we do have a quick start reference and guide for our author clients. This guide has information on custom template features as well as some basic how-to instructions. Additionally, for all clients, we plan to add video tutorials and articles that explain the basic tasks of using a WordPress site, such as adding pages and posts, and uploading media.

After launching a new site with us, we do offer a complimentary half-hour, walkthrough orientation to your new site. This orientation is done remotely through GoToMeeting or Mac Messages as a screen-sharing session (unless there’s a connection issue preventing the session), or we can schedule a Skype audio call.
